With Persiflage (Saxophone Quartet)

Persiflage

Nottinghamshire-based saxophone quartet Persiflage draws from a diverse and often unexpected repertoire, whether taking a fresh look at traditional favourites or interpreting upbeat swing-style numbers. Formed by woodwind tutor Janet Hoare (alto saxophone), with Jill O'Sullivan on soprano, Jeff Fry on tenor and Phil Rathbone on baritone, Persiflage is as happy providing background music for private, social or community functions as it is sharing a concert platform with other ensembles, or even taking centre stage. Recent successes include appearances at Belvoir Castle, New College Nottingham and Stapleford Park Country House Hotel, together with the release of 'Time Signature', the foursome's debut CD.

The choir sang works ranging from the German and English romantic repertoire of the nineteenth century to works first performed only last year, one by the prolific and popular American Eric Whitacre.
