Summer Concert
Church of St Mary the Virgin, Bottesford
Saturday 5 July at 6.30 p.m.
directed by Richard Roddis
The programme included * Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo by Michael Flanders and Joseph Horovitz * Cloudburst by Eric Whitacre, and * arrangements of English folksongs, as well as work by the children.
Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo is a popular piece for
children and grown-ups alike, telling the story of Noah's flood in a colourful and
effective way.
Tempting fate, we repeated Eric Whitacre's exciting Cloudburst with which we greeted last year's soaking summer (and the weather duly deteriorated again).
Liz Mills, who worked wonders with the children, said afterwards: "... the concert was great fun and the children got such a lot from being part of something which, for most, was very new and very exciting. We have had SO many comments from thrilled parents, grannies, neighbours and the local community. They were thoroughly 'WOWED' by Sinfonia Chorale, and thrilled to see our little crew 'up front' too."
